
Nicholas graduated from the State University of Uruguay in 2010. Following graduation, he completed an internship and remained at the university as a clinical tutor. During this time, he also spent several years working as an official veterinarian at race meetings at Uruguay’s national racecourse and served on multiple occasions as an FEI Eventing veterinarian for the Uruguayan Equestrian Team. In addition, he worked in private equine practice.
In 2017, Nicholas relocated to Australia to take up a position as a Clinical Tutor in Equine Surgery at the University of Melbourne, where he later commenced a Residency in Equine Surgery. His research has focused on catastrophic musculoskeletal injuries in racehorses.
Nicholas joined Scone Equine Hospital in July 2021 as a surgeon. In March 2025, he successfully completed his specialist examinations and became a DACVS Large Animal Specialist.
In March 2026, Nicholas joined the Avenel Equine Hospital team as a Registered Specialist in Equine Surgery.
