Tiago graduated with his veterinary degree (DVM) from the Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute, University of Porto, in 2018. After a short period in equine stud medicine and neonatology at Dubai Equine Hospital, he moved to the Equine Veterinary Medical Center in Doha, Qatar, where he completed a rotating internship across anaesthesiology, internal medicine, surgery, sports medicine and reproduction, followed by a fellowship in internal medicine and anaesthesiology.
Tiago then undertook a residency in Equine Internal Medicine at the same hospital, training towards certification with the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM). During his time in Doha, Tiago authored or co-authored multiple peer-reviewed papers, with research interests spanning neonatology, clinical pathology, and infectious diseases.
Tiago joins the team at Avenel Equine Hospital where he looks forward to caring for horses across internal medicine and neonatology, and to working closely with referring vets and owners.
