Our hospital and intensive care facility allows us to provide a 24/7 intensive care service provided by Specialists in Equine Medicine, veterinarians and a dedicated nursing team. The hospital is staffed 24/7 during the breeding season. We routinely provide care to over 100 critically ill foals annually, ensuring experience and staffing to give the best outcomes.
Our hospital facility enables us to provide an intensive care service for neonatal foals which are often recumbent and require intensive nursing, including intravenous fluid therapy, intra-nasal oxygen, enteral and parenteral nutrition and blood pressure monitoring. These cases require constant care, that can only effectively be provided by trained nurses onsite day and night. The hospital is run by Specialists in Equine Medicine, Dr’s Francesca Worsman and Stacey Sullivan, both with vast experience in the intensive care of foals and adults.
We also provide hospital care for older foals and adult patients which require nursing care, intravenous fluid therapy, and regular medical treatment such as wound management and challenging eye cases.
We have a dedicated isolation barn to accommodate our cases, ensuring effective biosecurity between these horses.
We have invested in new equipment including a cardio centric ultrasound scanner with cardiac probe, state of the art measuring software and a sophisticated telemetric electrocardiogram (ECG) recording device that can be used during rest and at exercise to monitor heart rhythms.
Our close alliance with Scone Equine Hospital means we have the opportunity to draw on the additional resources of a team of Equine Medicine Specialists and support staff as needed.
